6 To Success Expansion Allows More Access to Education, Employment, and Recreation
6 To Success has been assisting those in Falls and Rural McLennan counties to reach the Waco Transit Station and beyond. Launched November 12, 2007, 6 To Success is the first public mode of transportation from the Marlin area into Waco, which can allow individuals to reach places of education, employment, and recreation.
2009 has brought forth expanded services to encompass Chilton, Golinda, and Robinson. “All of these areas have a great need for public transportation,” Julie Talbert of the Heart of Texas Workforce Development Board, Inc., stated. “We have graduating high school students using the service to reach college and individuals traveling to jobs that they previously would not have been able to access. It has been an outstanding service for residents of the Marlin area and we are confident the expansion will assist these new areas in the same ways.”
The 6 To Success bus fare is low-cost and ridership has continued to increase as education about the route has become more prevalent. In 2008, 6 To Success averaged about 990 riders per month, ending it’s first year having provided over 12,000 passenger trips. This service has gained attention throughout the state for its innovative design connecting rural communities to an urban transit system.
